Accompaniment Competition

Please read these rules carefully before registering for the competition.

Eligibility

  • The competition is an individual event. Groups will not be allowed to enter.
  • There will be two age groups — Junior for ages 10 to 14, and Senior for ages 15 to 21. (Age should be calculated as of March 1)
  • This category is for violin and percussion instruments only.

Application/Competition

  • The fee for this category is US $85 per entry
  • The entrant should bring an instrument tuned to 1 (C) sruthi.
  • A vidwan or vidushi will perform for five minutes at that sruthi, and the entrant must play as an accompanist for him/her.
  • A main artist may perform a krithi, do alapana, niraval, or kalpana swaram. The entrant will be judged on how well he/she accompanies the main artist in whatever the artist performs.
  • The decision of the judges is final and binding.
  • The application for registration and associated entry fee must be received by the deadline, March 8, 2026.

Registration for the competition is now closed. You can still view your entry by logging into the registration page, but you cannot add or change any entries.
