Samskara — A Music Workshop
The Aradhana Committee announces a new feature for the Cleveland Thyagaraja Aradhana in 2010: a music workshop. Training will be available for vocal as well as various instruments.
There will be two separate topics in the workshop:
Manodharmam and Pallavi Performance
This workshop will cover the improvisational aspects of Carnatic music, including alapana, thanam, and pallavi and niraval.
This workshop will be taught by Smt. Charumathi Ramachandran, the illustrious disciple of Dr M.L. Vasanthakumari, and reknowned expert on pallavi singing.
Voice Culture and Management
This workshop will teach students how to maintain their voices for peak performance, techniques for practice, and voice exercises.
Classes will be taught by Sri K.N. Shashikiran, the famed teacher and vocalist of the Carnatica Brothers.
Workshop Details
- The workshops will take place Saturday April 3 – Monday April 5, 2010. They will be 2 hours each, one after the other each day, starting at 10:00am.
- The cost of the workshop is $150 per topic. This will cover all three days of instruction. There will be no refunds for missed classes.
- The workshop will take place in the Comfort Inn Ballroom.
