Pallavi Competition
Please read these rules carefully before registering for the competition.
Eligibility
- The competition is an individual event. Groups will not be allowed to enter.
- There will be two age groups — Junior for ages 10 to 14, and Senior for ages 15 to 21. (Age should be calculated as of March 1)
- In addition to these age groups, there will be different categories for vocal and various melody instruments (violin, flute, veena, etc.)
Application/Competition
- Applicants in the Senior category must submit the details (raga, tala, eduppu, sahityam) of two (2) pallavis on the application form, and juniors must submit one (1).
- The judges will choose which of the pallavis must be performed on stage. If the contestant is unable to perform the pallavi that the judges have selected, he/she may be disqualified.
- Competitors should perform alapana and thanam in the raga of the chosen pallavi, followed by the pallavi.
- A strict time limit of fifteen (15) minutes will be imposed. A buzzer will signal the conclusion of the allotted time. The judges may also request the contestant to stop before the allotted time.
- The decision of the judges is final and binding.
- The application for registration and associated entry fee must be received by the deadline, March 24, 2024.
