Individual Participation
Every year, the Aradhana Committee provides a stage for those who wish to participate in the Festival on a non-competitive basis and for those who simply want to pay their musical homage to Sri Thyagaraja.
The individual participation commences as soon as the group rendering of the Pancharatna krithis and the Bhajans are over. It continues on till the beginning of the next concert.
If you would like to participate in the individual participation, please read the following regulations carefully, and follow the instructions that appear below:
- Individual participation is restricted to Thyagaraja krithis only as we feel this is appropriate for a function of this nature.
- Please limit your homage to a maximum of strictly 5 minutes and only one krithi. There are many people who wish to pay their homage to Thyagaraja, and your co-operation in this regard is essential.
- Please do not perform any alapana, niraval or kalpana swaram. This restriction does not apply to chitta swarams that appear in compositions.
- The Aradhana Committee will not provide any accompanists on stage. If you wish, you may bring your own accompaniments. No solos for the accompanists are allowed.
- Due to scheduling restrictions, we can only accommodate 60 people for the individual participation.
- Individual slots are filled on a lottery basis. We give a slight priority to people from out-of-town, and strongly discourage contestants from the music competition from entering.
If you agree to these conditions, please fill out the registration form to submit your entry.
If you would like to perform as a group, please do not use the online form. E-mail Gopi Sundaram (gopi@aradhana.org) instead.
