Harikatha / Kathakalakshepam Competition
For the first time, the Aradhana Committee is organizing a competition for Kathakalakshepam, otherwise known as Harikatha. Please read these rules carefully before registering for the competition.
- You must be of age 21 or less (as of March 31).
- The topic for your discourse must be a krithi composed by Thyagaraja, to be explained in Harikatha form.
- You should sing bits of the krithi, bring at least 2 analogies, anecdotes, or supporting stories from the puranas and ithihasas, and have some humor.
- You will have 8 minutes on stage to perform.
- The spoken part of your performance may be in English.
- The decision of the judges is final and binding.
- Failure to comply with these rules will result in immediate disqualification.
- All applications for registration must be received by March 7 . Applications received after that date will not be accepted under any circumstances.
By filling out an application, you agree to abide by the rules of the competition and decisions of the judges.
