School Competition
The Aradhana Committee would like to select three North American music schools to each give a 50 minute thematic performance during the Aradhana. The teacher may also participate with the students. Performances could be scheduled during a weekday.
Visiting artists will be the judges. The selected school will get a trophy, the teacher an award, and the group the opportunity to perform in Chennai during the music season, and the opportunity to give a 1½ hour performance in next year's Aradhana. All participants will receive a certificate for being finalists.
Application Process
- The school should send a proposed theme which will be presented through music by the students of the school. Examples include the Utsava Sampradaya Krithis, or krithis that reflect stories from the Itihasas (Ramayana & Mahabharata), or Krithis in praise of a particular deity, etc.
- The school should also send the expected number of participants, broken down into vocalists, instrumentalists, etc. The maximum number of participants per school is 25 students.
- The application fee for entry is $100. If the school is selected, then each participant in the group will be required to pay an acceptance fee of $25.
- All applications will be evaluated by senior musicians and their decision will be final.
- All applications and the application fee must be received by February 28. Entries that are not complete by the deadline will be rejected.
