Bhairavi Fine Arts Society bestows several titles upon honorees at the Cleveland St. Thyagaraja Aradhana:
The title of Sangeetha Rathnakara is bestowed upon an artist who has made a fundamental contribution to the Carnatic arts through its performance and propogation. Past Sangeetha Rathnakara-s have been giants in the field of Carnatic music. A list of honorees includes almost all of the well known musicians who have toured the United States. This year, we honor Guruvayoor Sri Dorai with this award.
The title of Nrithya Rathnakara is bestowed upon an artist who has made a fundamental contribution in the field of Classical Dance through its performance and propogation. This award was instituted in the year 2002. This year, we present the title to Smt. Sudharani Raghupathy.
This title is bestowed upon an artist with a lifetime of contribution to, and promotion of the Carnatic arts, through performance, training musicians, and teaching. This year, we present the title to Smt. Kalpagam Swaminathan.
This title, instituted in 2007, is bestowed upon an artist with a lifetime of contribution to, and promotion of Classical Dance, through performance, training dancers, and teaching. This year, we present the title to Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan.
This award is bestowed upon an individual who has made a significant contribution to the classical arts through teaching and training successful musicians. The award was instituted in 2007. This year, we present the title to Smt. Suguna Varadachari.
The title of Seva Rathna is bestowed upon an individual who has made a lasting contribution to the Carnatic arts through the preservation and study of the theory and practice of Carnatic music and dance. Honorees are usually organizers of Carnatic music festivals abroad or venerable theorists and authors who have studied the principles and techniques of Carnatic music and its concert presentation. This year, we present the title to Sri R. Krishnaswamy of Narada Gana Sabha.
The title of Nrithya Seva Rathna is bestowed upon an individual who has made a lasting contribution in the field of Classical Dance through the preservation, promotion and study of the theory and practice of dance. Honorees are usually organizers of dance festivals abroad or venerable theorists, authors and teachers who have studied the principles and techniques of dance and are engaged in its presentation.
The title of Kala Seva Mani is bestowed upon individuals who have made a lasting contribution to the Carnatic arts through their propogation and demonstration in the United States and Canada. Honorees are music festival organizers, tour sponsors and patrons who have actively supported the performance and learning of the Carnatic arts in their communities. This year, we present the title to Sri Ram & Smt. Nandini Mouli.
The title of Nrithya Seva Mani is bestowed upon an individual who has made a lasting contribution to Classical Dance through propagation and demonstration in the United States and Canada. Honorees are cultural festival organizers, tour sponsors and patrons who have actively supported the performance and learning of Classical dance in their communities. This year, we present this title to Smt. Ramya Ramnarayan.
In addition to these significant awards, Bhairavi also presents a Best Teacher Award to an individual who has tirelessly promoted the Carnatic arts in the North American continent by teaching in the community and providing opportunities for aspiring Carnatic musicians to showcase their talents. This year, the award goes to Smt. Padma Kutty.
The Aradhana Committee also gives Outstanding Volunteer Awards to two volunteers who have devoted a significant portion of their time towards the continued success of the Cleveland Aradhana.
